2026 Lake Shikaribetsu Special Open Season Terms of Service

This is an English translation for reference. If there is any difference between the English and Japanese versions, the Japanese version shall prevail.

Conditions of Use

Any person who takes part in the Lake Shikaribetsu Special Open Season program (the "Program") operated by the Great Fishing Lake Shikaribetsu Office (the "Office") (such person, a "User") shall comply with all relevant laws, ordinances, rules and regulations, and shall be deemed to have agreed to all conditions of use established by the Office, including these Terms and the Regulations.

Responsibilities of Users

Users shall owe a duty of care for the safety of themselves and other users on the lake and within its related facilities, and shall follow any instructions given by the Office.
Should a User violate this and injure another user, Office staff or any other person, or cause damage to related facilities, equipment or the like, the User may be subject to a claim for damages and a criminal complaint.

Grounds for Refusal of Use

Members and associate members of organized crime groups (boryokudan) and other persons belonging to so-called antisocial forces, as well as any person who has been notified orally or in writing that they are refused participation in the Lake Shikaribetsu Special Open Season program for reasons such as a violation of the conditions of use, are not permitted to participate in the Program under any circumstances.
By making a reservation, Users are deemed to have declared that they do not fall under any of the grounds for refusal of use.

How to Make a Reservation

As a rule, reservations shall be made through the "Great Fishing Lake Shikaribetsu" website (the "Website") ("Online Reservations"). During the Program period only, reservations may also be made by telephone on the day before the planned fishing day ("Telephone Reservations"). For details on how to make a reservation, please check the Website.

Capacity and Reservation Priority

Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for each day of the Program.
When Online Reservations and Telephone Reservations combined reach 50 people for a given day, the status of that day on the online reservation form will change to "waiting list" or "sold out," and Telephone Reservations will no longer be accepted.

Advance Reservations

Advance reservations can be made by Online Reservation only.

Validity Period of Advance Reservations

An advance reservation is valid for 7 days, including the day the reservation is made. The reservation is confirmed once the specified fishing fee and other charges have been paid by the prescribed method within the validity period.
Please note that if payment of the fishing fee and other charges cannot be confirmed within the validity period, the reservation will be treated as abandoned and the advance reservation will be cancelled automatically.

Reservations During the Program Period

Online Reservations made during the Program period are confirmed upon receipt of the reservation confirmation email.
Please pay the fishing fee and other charges at the reception office on the day of your reservation. (Cash and credit cards are accepted.)

Cancellations and Changes to Reservations

A cancellation fee of 100% applies from the time the reservation is confirmed. Therefore, if you subsequently cancel your reservation for your own reasons, no refund can be given for any reason whatsoever.
If you wish to change the date of your reservation, you must contact the Office no later than 10 days before the reserved date. The reservation date may be changed once only, and only if the new date is within the same year and there is availability on that date.
Requests to change a reservation made after this deadline, second or subsequent changes, and requests to carry a reservation over to the following year or later cannot be accommodated under any circumstances.

Cancellation of the Program due to Force Majeure

If the Office determines that it is difficult to ensure the safety of Users due to an unforeseen natural disaster, social disturbance or similar event, the Program may be cancelled at short notice.

If the Program Is Cancelled

If the Office decides to cancel the Program for a given day before that day's fishing start time, and the fishing fee and other charges have already been paid at the time of advance reservation, the amount will be promptly refunded to the User by bank transfer at a later date.
Even in this case, however, please note in advance that transportation costs for travel to Lake Shikaribetsu, local accommodation costs and other such expenses are to be borne by the customer.
Please also note that if the Office is unavoidably forced to cancel the Program after fishing has started on a given day due to bad weather or other reasons, no refund will be given, regardless of the actual time spent fishing.
